Hi We have 2 Chinese ATVs a 2006 Red Cat 110 and a 2008 Hi-Bird 250. The Red Cat has been good to us after almost a year now. But I can't quite say the same for the 2 weeks I have owned the Hi Bird. I have a few shoddy welds on it. I have entirely lost one small right angle bracket that held the front of the body on. Thats where the bracket went if you click the pic you can see it was a tiny tack weld that broke. Thats the same bracket on the other side see how small the weld is. The welds were just tack welds tiny at that. It was not finished, once it was tacked in place they should have gone back and welded them all the way across. Once I saw that this was missing and found out from the other side why and that its the same way I started looking around at other welds. The winch to frame welds stink also. Now buying an ATV for less than $2000 for a 250 I expected some simple problems like this. But its starting to look like I should pull the whole thing apart and put it back together right. IE complete welds and thread locker on all the bolts. Sounds like a fun weekend. One rainy day or two. Maybe I can find some good mods to do at the same time. Larry

This is a problem with all ATV frame construction. The frames are made by Chinese Companies no matter if they are name brand or generic brands. Sometimes the assembly robotic welders are not programed right. I have seen this in alot of name brand machines. It is always wise to own a cheap wire feed welder,$100.00, to fix these issues, but welds will always break due to the nature of ATV riding and conditions. My 2007 SUNL 200cc ATV has a bomber frame with heavy welds, but still these are inexpensive rigs and are not made to any specific specs. Jumping, mudd riding, snorkeling are not recomended. I use mine for moderate Forest service road and trail riding here in the Panhandle National Forest in North Idaho and it will take a beating. But I inspect it after every ride!
