Some Chinese ATV's that come with Drum Brakes need an upgrade to the front end hub bolt assembly. You of course have your hub on your axle (spinal). Then you have a short sleeve that goes up aganst the bearing. Then a washer and of course your Crown bolt with a cotter pin. Well on mine the washer was the same size as the bearings and the front tire, rim and hub came flying off when the bearings disintigrated one day. Well check yours out, there should be a large 1 1/2 OD washer there to keep the hub on if the bearings go bad. Simple fix on mine, I will replace the small lock washer with a large OD washer. This was recomended by our local ATV shop. Alot of 2 x 4 ATV's do not have this larger washer which includes alot of Japanese ATV's also.

I went to the ATV shop today. I asked the question of whether the Crown bolt needs to or has an tighting tork. They said no,there should not be a lock washer, and you tighten it finger tight and then back it off to the nearest hole in the spindal to put the cotter pin in. Never tork down the crown nut up aganst the bearings in your hub at all. It needs a little play in it just like any wheel hub.So get rid of those lock washers and get large and thick regular washers!
