To properly ajust your chain , but also align your rear wheels is not hard. First thing is to unloosen the two large nuts and bolts on your rear wheel axle housing. They when tight keep your housing from swing forward and backwards. Next unloosen the chain tensioners on the axle housing also. It is best to do this with the rear end up on a block or jack stand with the wheels spinning freely. Now push on the tires and axle and swing the axle housing for the chain to go maximum slack. Make sure the chain is clean and lubed before you start this process. Use chain cleaner and chain lube only, or you may damage the chain. I used Walmart products myself! Now pull back on the tires so the axle housing swings putting a little tension on the chain, but don't try to get it tight. Now tighten the chain tensioners which are the two small bolts under the axle housing. Just get the to where they are just touching the plate. Now with a tape measure, measure from any place up front on the right hand side on your machine to the center of the rightside of the axle, straight back. Now measure from the same place upfront on your machine on the leftside to the center of the axle on the left side of the machine. You may have to use a rubber malet and hit on the tire on one side or the other to get the same measurement. Now once you have your axle square to the frame start to tighten the chain tensioning bolts. Be sure to start with lets say half turns until the chain has gotten to where it is almost to a 1/2 inch of play. Now go to 1/4 turns until your chain really only has a 1/2 inch of play and thats not very much! Now you must tighten the axle housing swing bolts. Besure to use lock tite on the threads and crank down hard on these nuts and bolts, for they are what actually hold your adjustment. While you are doing your tightening of the chain, besure to keep measuring on bothsides so your axle is square to your frame. Otherwise your rear end will be scrubbing while you ride and cause loss of control and excessive wear on your tires. See me at ATVSUNLSpokane @ face book! Be my friend!
