Sometimes your starter won't work right. It may spin and not turn over the engine, other times it is acting slow and without power. Every year you must do a few electricial things to keep your rig starting. First always disconnect both sides of the battery before goofing with your electricial system. Always clean your battery connections well. Follow your battery cable to the Starter relay. Remove one connection at a time, cleaning the terminals and wires, and reconnect. Next on the Starter remove and clean the terminal and wire, and reconnect. Then of course find the main ground point on the bike, remove and clean well, and reconnect. Now reconnect the battery terminals. I used a small wire brush to clean everything. I also sprayed all the connections and terminals I cleaned with Batery Terminal anti-corosive spray. Also use electricial conection cleaner to clean inside the plastic electricial connectors on your machine. The starter button and emergency kill swithch should be cleaned out with electricial connection cleaner. Also there is sometimes a small switch associated with the starter on the clutch handle and brakes . These must be keep clean also with the spray!
