Hi Guys,
Well we finally made it out to our new land. ;D Heres what we took with us for the first trip out.
As you can see I took everything but the kitchen sink.
I wanted to have the tractor to clear a space for the camper to go and help push it out of the mud when I got it stuck. Of course I had to take Kyrstin's ATV. The barrels are for trash & water storage. If you look at the last pic of the truck & trailer I also had my box blade on there along with the spare and a half dozen fuel cans. I almost forgot the generator was on there too.
Well I will not do that again.
Big mistake and I know better. So yes I am mad at my self.
But I nearly wrecked the truck not far from home. The load was to far back. That caused the truck to go real squirrelly at 45 mph. Well one good dip in the road and we were crossing both the white and yellow lines at the same time on a highway.
So I stopped and shifted the load around. It would get a little better each time I did. In all we stopped five or six times. We should have been fine the way we started. A 10000 lb. trailer should have 500lbs of tung weight. We were not over the weight limit or towing capacity either. I had around 500-700 lbs. of tung weight at the start but I know my combo and knew I needed at least 900-1100 lbs. But I was hoping to get by with less. Lesson Learned.
Ok we reached our destination a lot later than planned. But we did get there in one piece.
The CCC road was not real muddy after all. So we were able to drive all the way in to the property without unloading.
Cool we got unloaded and decided to turn around and come back to get the camper and other stuff while the road was good. We ended up with an uneventful trip this time showing back up an hour after dark.
We set up camp about a hundred yards in from the road.
I told you guys the camper is something I was paid to take out of someones yard. I was going to scrap it keeping the steel for future projects. But this is a better use to us now. ;D I never did care for sleeping in a tent during cold weather. Besides we need a long term camp while clearing & building.
We were sitting in the right hand side of the Y down which we want camp. But before we could go any farther we had to turn an ATV trail in to a path wide enough for the camper. This is where we wanted to to get the camper. I wanted it to set to the left hand side here after making the opening larger.
Here we are most of the way back and to the right of the property near a half mile as the trail goes I guess. I will have check. We are only a few hundred yards from the big creek and a little over 100 yards from the dry creek. We spent the better part of Sunday clearing to get back there. Then we got the camper in place about the time it started to rain.
That picture was taken Monday I think. I know we were so tired by Sunday night we didn't get to taking pictures after we made camp. But here are some of the clearing process.
Thats the first tree we have taken out at our new place. The 354 pushed on it one time and then pulled her right out. ;D
After that tree came out so easy I stopped pushing them and just pulled them out. As you can see they are not big trees.
I will write some more later I am out of time now.
