The owners manual doesn't tell how to adjust the chain on my new 250 Hi Bird. The dealer couldn't tell me either. But I did find out. Heres how. You loosen up these two pinch bolts that hold the axle carrier. There is a third one that holds the brake caliper also. No pic of that one but you will see it there just like the 2 that hold the housing. Then you rotate the housing until you have it where you want it. See how the axle shaft is off center in the housing. When you rotate it it moves the axle father away from or closer to the front sprocket giving you the adjustment. Larry

Same issue with my JCL 250, it also uses this type of axel carrier to tighten the chain, only two pinch bolts to loosen and also provides a tab to tap with a hammer and rotate the carrier.

Thank you so much for this information. My grandson kept having the chain come off and I couldn't figure how to tighten the chain. Used duckduckgo and this came up and explained it simply with pics also. Again, thank you!1
