I have a 150 ATV, CVT full auto w/reverse it looks like a Roketa ATV-17 but it says "BMX" on the seat. Anyway, I broke the gearbox and am having trouble finding a new one. I'm thinking of just having the gears welded so it will at least go forward again. Here's the gearbox: It looks like the shifter fork broke then damaged the ring gear This is where the gearbox mounts. It is on the output shaft of the CVT, not on the rear axle like other brands:

Welcome to the club Riche. Great job with the picks. Is the shifter fork shown in your pick the only part you are talking about welding? If so that should be fine. I couldn't see any damage to the actual gears in your photos. I will try to find some info tomorrow for you. Larry

Sorry the pics are so big. I keep forgetting that I only resized them to 1024 when I put them on photobucket. There's one more gear that's not shown. It's hard to describe. I call it a ring gear. It goes over (or around) the smaller gears and locks them together for forward or reverse. Here's the pieces of it ...lol: You can sort of see in the picture that was round and had the 'teeth' inside, these would interlock with the cogs on the main gears. The fork moved it back and forth to lock the gears.

Riche, I haven't had any luck either looking for your part. These ATVs use a lot of the same parts so you might try a different make and get lucky. Have you tried Power Sports Racing? www.powersportsracing.net/Another thought is your local machine shop could make you one if its a good machine shop. They should be able to handle it with no problem. Good Luck Larry

I've actually got one on order from Roketa, but they haven't processed my order yet. It's been over a week and they haven't charged my card or anything. I can't get them on the phone. I also called the place where I got it from (Best Price ATVs in Dallas) and asked them for one since it's still under warrenty. They said they'd send it out. That was a week a ago. I'm on hold with them right now (on the phone), been on hold for about an hour, trying to follow up with them to see if they even shipped it.
Last night I tried to drill a hole through sprocket assembly so I could put a pin through it and permanently connect it to the output shaft of the engine. That way it would at least go forward. I couldn't drill through the gears though, that steel is pretty tough!
So far my best hope seems like VBike. They had one on their web site, but said it was out of stock and to check back in two weeks. The guy there has a good reputation for helping people out.
I haven't checked into to getting a new gear made, sounds expensive. I am trying to find someone who could just weld up the gear assembly though. Again, that would at least allow it to go forward. I can live without reverse.

Riche, Have you heard any more about your parts? I too had a hard time getting with my dealer but once I got someone on the phone I had the parts a week later. I think this is a second job for most of these sellers on Ebay. So they aren't as up on keeping with their customers as they should be. But I am sure you will get it straitened out before long. Your posts are excellent and the pics are too. I usually try and use the click able thumbnails for those who have dial up. I am glad to see your posts and I am sure if anyone else has similar problems they will be real glad to find this info. I hope to see many posts from you in the future if you would like to post other things that interest you and don't see an appropriate spot let me know and I will make one for you. Larry

I finally talked to someone in the parts department at Best Price ATVs. He said they had my request. They didn't have any gearboxes in stock but they were going to pull one of another unit and send it. The backlog is in the service department, they haven't got around to pulling the part yet. So I'll give it another week. Too cold here to ride anyway. It's just disappointing for my son, he didn't even get a chance to check it out. I busted it on the first test ride. Do want to start a forum section for Chinese bikes? I've got a 200CC enduro on order

Riche, I will be happy to set up a section for your china bike just give me a few days. So did you get the ATV for your son and the bike for you or? I am super glad you got in touch with the dealer. Now lets see how long it takes for you to get your parts. Once I got someone at my dealers they sent me every possible part it could have been. Now I have a few spares if I have future problems. I hope the problems are done though. Have a Nice Day Larry

I sort of tend to overstock on parts myself. I just hate it when something is busted! I've still got car parts around for cars I've sold or traded in.
I just got back into bikes this last summer. I picked up a couple of Kawasaki KDX 200s for my son and I. I thought it would be a good bonding thing. He just never took to the bike (he has problems with coordination and fine motor skills e. g. Writing, sport, hand-foot, gears-clutch). So I thought the ATV with an auto trans would be more fun for him. He's 17 but will be home for a couple of more years to finish high school.
I got the China bike so I can start riding around on some the dirt roads by my house and out in the country here. The KDXs aren't street legal and I'm sort of tired of just riding around the couple of acres I've got. It's about a 40 or 50 mile haul to the nearest legal off-road area so I only get to go once or twice a month.
We probably don't need a bike fourm here. There are plenty of sites dedicated to them already.

The gearbox arrived from Roketa today. Took 'em long enough. It came with a new sprocket, which was great because mine wouldn't have fit on the Roketa gearbox and would have had to go parts searching again. So, if you're desperate for parts try www.roketa.com. They say they don't sell to the general public, but I think that only applies to new ATVs and bikes. They do sell parts direct. You'll pay a premium and have to wait. It took them two weeks to ship it out. They used DHL and it took 4 more days after that. Almost three weeks, but this was over New Year's so plan on at least two weeks to get your part. They charged $160 for the gearbox, which a little high. What shocked me was $40 for shipping and handling. That's a rip, the used DHL ground and was only 8lbs! But, it was my choice I could have waited until a dealer got one in. I knew I was paying too much, but in the end it was worth it to have the bike going again.

By the way... My bike showed up this week too I had good time putting it together. No problems, all the parts were there. It started up almost right away, even though it was only about 30 or so that night. I've only ridden it about half a mile. This weekend will be first chance I'll have to see it in the daylight. I don't get home from work until 6:30 or 7 most nights. Click for full size imageMy next challenge will to try and get it registered. I got insurance on it without a problem, but the tags will be a challenge. It's not one of the official U.S. DOT/EPA certified bikes. It's got all the lights and horn, but the MSO says "Dirt Bike". I'm trying to get the seller to send me another one that says "Motorcycle" on it. I'm not even sure it's an issue, I'm just going on what others have said. I don't want to go to the DMV without all my ducks in a row. I live in a tiny (by population) county and can't bounce around to different DMV offices 'till I find one that won't pick my paperwork apart so I want to get it right the first time. If I can't get it on the street I'll sell it to my son-in-law and spend an extra couple hundred for a Lifan. They've got all the proper certifications. Only paid $900 for this bike, that included shipping.
