I just bought a small tao 125 atv. it runs great but gas keeps leaking through the bottom tube on the carburetor.
Also, the start switch on the handle bar will not even turn the starter. It's like it isn't making a connection.
I've disassembled it and it looks like everything is hooked up. I've checked the wires and none of them are loose or disconnected.
I've applied the parking brake and locked it in but still will not crank with handle button.
It only cranks with the remote.
Can anyone help?
Thanks, Elvis

carb prob is most likely needle and seat stuck pull fuel bowl off. slide pin holding the float and clean the needle jet attatched to float. reasemble float and test. fuel should stop flowinng when u hold float up. put bowl back on and your away.

When I got my Tao Tao, it would only start by remote start only ( pressing the "lightning bolt" button twice on the remote)... then I called the dealer and found out you have to press down on the foot brake AND pull in (firmly) on the hand brake (make sure manual kill switch is in "run" mode) and with both brakes depressed, press ignition button...if that doesnt work, try pressing the "unlock" button on the remote, and repeat the step above

I tried the above and it did not fix the problem. Cannot start with the handle bar, only the remote start. Did anyone find a fix for this without having to replace switch?

The very first time you cranked it up, did you just use the remote to do so, or did you manually start it?

Make sure the foot brake light switch works. If the Rear light doesn't work it will not start. It's a safety feature

Press Foot Brake and Hand Brake real HARD. It should crank without Rear Brake Light being connected. Had to disconnect mine because it kept blowing fuse

I am having the same issue, remote cranks it over.....button on the handlebar does not. The lights don't work and the starter switch on the handlebar doesn't work. Even bought a new one with the same results......the remote cranks it over, haven't had it running yet, seems like something isn't letting it start.

My Tao 125 wasn't starting, it turned over but no spark. Turns out it was just the safety kill switch on the rear of the ATV wasn't connected.

Try the jumping the solenoid. Follow red wire off battery to a black box (Solenoid). Move rubber cover to the side on solenoid. Turn key on, parking break engaged. Take a needle nose pliers and touch metal ends on posts on solenoid and see if it cranks and starts.

I'm having the same problems with our 125cc TaoTao ATV. We replaced the starter and solenoid. Tried jumping the solenoid per Gr8whthunter 76 and no spark at all. Safety kill switch connected. Not sure what else to try.
